Playing sports in college can be fun and demanding. You need to work closely with your guidance counselor to be sure and follow all the requirements necessary to play in a Division I or Division II school (these are the only schools able to give academic scholarships). These requirements are set forth by the NCAA Initial Eligibility Center.
Quick Facts:
SAT and ACT scores must be reported directly to the NCAA Eligibility Center by the testing agency.
Only core courses are used in the calculation of the grade-point average.
Division I schools require 16 core courses.
Division II schools require 14 core courses (as of 2013, this changes to 16).
You MUST register with the NCAA Eligibility Center at the beginning of your junior year.
