Holy Name Central Catholic Junior/Senior High School is very proud to have entered into partnership with Vionx Energy, National Grid and Worcester Polytechnic Institute as we have officially kicked off the Power Storage Research Study that has been in the works over the past few years. We had a wonderful ribbon cutting ceremony yesterday that was attended by representatives from all entities involved as well as many Holy Name alumni and friends. We were blessed with an absolutely beautiful day with the sun shining and the turbine spinning!
I would like to thank everyone who worked at Holy Name to put this event together including Scott Anderson and Wendy Yakstsis in development, Dr. Audette and Mrs. Kennedy in administration and Bill Coonan in maintenance. And we thank all of our guests, especially those who spoke, including Judith Judson from the Department of Energy, Bill Jones from National Grid, Dr. Orr from W.P.I and Robert Kennedy Jr. from Vionx Energy. We were especially please to have students in attendance; I am, as always, very proud of them, and I am certain that they learned a great deal from their experience.
The study of this installation will provide an outstanding and extremely unique opportunity for our students. No other school can provide this level of authentic, real world STEM learning experience utilizing emerging technologies. Furthermore, this commitment to increasing the viability of clean renewable energy reaffirms Holy Name as a leader in environmental and educational technologies and allows our Catholic community to be outstanding stewards of God’s earth.
